OpenTab

OpenTab is a minimal, deterministic format for guitar tab data that keeps musical intent explicit and portable across tools and time.

It treats tablature as structured musical data — not ASCII art — so timing, technique, and intent stay clear for humans and machines alike. OpenTab exists to bridge the gap between informal text tabs and proprietary, hard-to-version formats.

Interchange notes: MusicXML export is lossy, Guitar Pro (`.gp*`) import is best effort, and OpenTab is not a full notation editor.
